Upward Basketball & Cheerleading League
Upward Basketball & Cheerleading develops your athlete to RISE UP and grow mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially through the 360 Progression. Upward Basketball provides an experience that grows with young athletes over time by using a four-level age appropriate format. Each level is tailored to meet athletes where they are in their athletic journey, allowing them to reach their full potential, on and off the court. They will be encouraged to have fun, develop skills, play hard, and play in such a a way that others take notice. Our cheerleaders learn basic skills, cheers and pom routines.
Upward Basketball follows a unique set of rules designed to promote healthy competition and sportsmanship while promoting the objectives of the game. Coaches in kindergarten-4th grade adhere to a unique participation system each game that allows all players the opportunity to develop and improve.
At each practice, your coach will share a life lesson with your young athlete that centers on Christlike virtues. This season will focus on three virtues, each of which will be taught for three practices. Each virtue will also have a corresponding Bible verse. The virtues and verses for this season are service (1 Peter 4:10), contentment (Philippians 4:12), and hope (John 16:33).
At the end of every game, young athletes are recognized by their coach for their actions and attitudes on the court through the presentation of game-day stars. These stars are multi-colored and represent certain attributes.
