Upward Basketball & Cheerleading League
Upward Basketball & Cheerleading develops your 5 year old-8th grade athlete mentally, athletically, spiritually and socially through the 360 Progression. Upward Basketball provides an experience that grows with young athletes over time by using a four-level age appropriate format. Each level is tailored to meet athletes where they are in their athletic journey, allowing them to reach their full potential, on and off the court. Cheeleaders develop in the sport as they mature and progress in their individual skill development. Upward Sports athletes grow in character, confidence, faith and sportsmanship during their personal athletic journeys, and become more than just an athlete.
Upward Basketball follows a unique set of rules designed to promote healthy competition and sportsmanship while promoting the objectives of the game. Coaches in kindergarten-4th grade adhere to a substitution system designed to provide every player equal opportunity for play and improvement. In our middle school division, we implement middle school rules while competing at a high level.
At each one-hour practice once a week, your coach will share a life lesson with your young athlete that centers on the virtues honor, endurance and faith. At the end of every game, young athletes are recognized by their coach for their actions and attitudes on the court through the presentation of game-day stars. These stars are multi-colored and represent certain attributes.
The early registration cost for basketball and cheerleading is $50. After October 29 the cost is $55. Basketball shorts or cheerleading mock turtlenecks are optional at a cost of $12. There is a $5 sibling discount for families registering 3 or more participants. Deadline for registration is November 5.
Upward Basketball & Cheerleading takes numerous dedicated volunteers to be successful. From coaching a team to refereeing or keeping score for a ballgame to working a shift in the concession stand, praying for a team or sharing a halftime devotion or activity, there are countless volunteer opportunities. Coaches and referees can now fill out an application online. Once you have filled out this application, a league director will follow up with you. If you are interested in volunteering in some other way, please contact Colleen Cox at 526-7108 or email@example.com.
As part of the social and spiritual component of our Upward Basketball and Cheerleading league, we teach kids to give to other kids in need. For this project we have chosen to partner with Rice Bowls. Rice Bowls provides 100% of the food for 58 faith-based children’s homes in 9 countries around the world. These Christian orphanages rescue, love, educate and feed children. Each child will receive a Rice Bowl this season. Fill that bowl or multiple bowls if you would like and provide meals for precious children around the world. You can also give online if you would prefer to give that way.
Upward Basketball Camp
Upward Basketball Camp introduces, develops and refines the basketball skills of young athletes in kindergarten-6th grade through drills and gameplay while also providing character development. Adult coaches along with college & high school athletes provide the skill training. Camp is during fall break.
